Robin Day Utility Sideboard by Heals, 1950s

£1,195

A rare 1950s sideboard designed by Robin Day as part of the Utility range for Heals department store in London and exhibited in the Home and Gardens Pavilion at the Festival of Britain in 1951. The range came in ash and mahogany but this unusual configuration we believe to have been a bespoke order as the frame is made of ash but has been stained a very dark brown and lacquered and it has one mahogany door and one in a multicoloured fabric .The sliding doors have recessed brass handles and the legs are brass plated steel.  Inside there is one drawer and two removable shelves, one shelf can also be used as a tray.

The item has been refinished and is generally in very good condition with the odd sign of wear and tear including some discolouration to the fabric.

Height: 88cm
Width: 137cm
Depth: 45.5cm
