1950s Ellipses Sideboard by Gordon Russell
Sold
Known as the Ellipses sideboard due to its striking pattern of overlapping circles and ellipses, this piece was made by Gordon Russell and designed by their chief designer W H Russell in the 1950s. It has mahogany and the door and drawer fronts veneered in Bombay rosewood which are routed to create the pattern by displaying the beech wood underneath. It has a double cupboard with an internal shelf that leaves space for bottles and two drawers, one containing a baize lined cutlery compartment.
The item has been refinished and is generally in a very good condition with the odd sign of wear and tear including a mark on the back right of the top and a few small cosmetic repairs.
