Teak Sofa by Illum Wikkelso
This is a stunning and elegant teak sofa designed in about 1960 by Illum Wikkelso for the Danish manufacturer N. Eilersen. The simple design really makes the most of the wood especially on the armrests where the joint in the wood is a feature of the design.
The sofa has been reupholstered with new webbing, fire retardant foam and Warwick wool fabric in a medium grey colour called Amatheon Wolf. There are a few signs of wear and tear that you would expect with a piece of this age. The right hand armrest is slightly more faded than the left where it has probably been sat in direct sunlight and there was a split to the bottom stretcher in the middle back section which has been fully repaired. This is illustrated in photos 3,4, 9 and 10. The item is generally in very good vintage condition.
